The Industrial Fasteners Institute and National Fastener Distributors Association reported no significant changes in industry practice due to the small lot exemption of the 1999 amendments to the U.S. Fastener Quality Act \
They also predicted the exemption would cause marketing changes in the future.
The IFI/NFDA responded to a General Accounting Office call for public comments on the 1999 exemption of fasteners ordered for use as spare, substitute, service or replacement parts in packages containing 75 or fewer pieces and parts contained in assemblies.
GAO is required to submit a report to Congress by June 2001 describing any changes in industry practices due to the exemption.
