The IFI announced a revised IFI Standard 140 for Carbon and Alloy Steel Wire, Rods and Bars for Mechanical Fasteners.
The revision is due to modifications and restrictions of one or more elements, long been used for cold forming, the revised IFI 140 presents a series of 20 steel grades, including 11 carbon, 2 boron and 7 alloy.
If the voluntary standard is widely adopted, there will be economic and technical benefits from a deproliferation of grade choices.
