Industrial Rivet’s Sherman Receives Business Award
Joanne Goodman Sherman, co-owner of Industrial Rivet & Fastener Co., located in Northvale, New Jersey, is being honored as a 2010/2011 Professional Woman of the Year in Manufacturing by the National Association of Professional Women. NAPW is a national organization with more than 200,000 members.
Sherman represents the third generation of the Goodman family to lead the firm that her grandfather founded nearly a hundred years ago.
Sherman was still a teenager when she began to work in her family’s business in 1974, working part-time throughout high school. Today she is the secretary and treasurer of the company that she now co-owns with her brother.
During her tenure, Sherman has overseen the expansion of Industrial Rivet’s product line, and the company’s innovations in inventory management have enabled the company to grow into a global distributor with eight international locations and 10 U.S. distribution centers.
Sherman serves as the firm’s administrative and operational executive. In addition, she is responsible for the company’s many brands and copyrights, working directly with patent attorneys to manage and protect Industrial Rivet’s proprietary products and services. She is also a Certified Internal Auditor for ISO Procedures.
Founded in 1912, Industrial Rivet is family-owned global manufacturer, distributor and importer of rivets and fasteners, with facilities in nine U.S. states, plus Canada, Mexico, Taiwan, China, Japan, Spain, Germany, UK and Australia. ©2011 GlobalFastenerNews.com
