Attendance at Interwire: Wire & Cable Manufacturing Week 2001 totaled 7,955. Total exhibit space was up 2% and 1,214 attended technical sessions where 80 papers were presented.\
Total show registration of 9,079 was down about 10% from the record 10,069 set in 1999. Interwire announced that from now on it will use actual attendance numbers at its show rather than registrations.
Show officials attributed the decline to the “sluggish North American economy.”
Total exhibit space increased about 2% to 206.000 sq ft (excluding the associations exhibit space). There was a total of 3.3 million pounds of shipped-in machinery on the show floor.
At its 71st annual convention in conjunction with Interwire, WAI announced three other wire organizations will co-sponsor WAIs International Technical Conference in 2003.
WAI reported 307 new members signed up during the 2001 session.
Wire Expo will be June 8-13, 2002 at the Chicago Navy Pier and the next Interwire will be May 11-16, 2003, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Web: wirenet.org 2001 FastenerNews.com
