ITW Paslode Closing Mississippi Plant
Mississippi’s Paslode fastener plant will close December 13, 2013, according to WTVA of Tuppelo-Columbus.
Paslode is one of seven companies in Illinois Tool Works’ North American residential construction business. Mississippi production will shift to other Paslode facilities.
Founded in 1935, Paslode produces fasteners and staples for wood and wood construction and cordless and pneumatic nailers. Customers include Ace, Menard’s, True Value, Grainger and Home Depot.
The broadcaster reported 24 people will lose their jobs at the plant in Pontotoc, MS.
Pontotoc mayor Jeff Stafford told WTVA that Paslode is closing its fasteners division to help the company overall.
“They’re still a strong company,” Stafford explained. “They’re just doing some diversification right now, focusing on different product lines.”
The Paslode workers are “all highly trained and highly skilled and I don’t think we’ll have any trouble relocating those in our community,” Stafford said.
