ITW was awarded the national 2008 Vision for America Award for its “leadership in environmental issues, and for its outstanding efforts to promote and sustain volunteerism in America.” The award is sponsored by the nonprofit Keep America Beautiful.
“ITW provides a wonderful example of corporate citizenship and social responsibility that we are proud to honor,” stated group president Matthew McKenna.
The nonprofit group commented on ITW’s recycling programs, employee volunteerism, and financial support of environmental organizations. Specifically mentioned was ITW’s minimal packaging approach, with its focus on sustainable packaging solutions.
“Reducing packaging waste, and selecting sustainable materials has not only helped to protect the environment, but helped ITW customers to save money through reduced shipping costs, streamlined operations, and materials recovery through recycling and reuse,” the group stated. Web: kab.org
