Key Fasteners Corporation is nearly doubling its 82,500 sq ft Indiana plant with a $1.6 million expansion. Key also will install $8 million in equipment.
Key supplies fasteners to Honda and other automakers.
Key, a subsidiary of Sato Rashi Co. Inc. of Japan, manufactures fasteners used in engines, frames, brakes and fuel systems.
The 39,000 sq ft, $1.6 million addition will allow Sato Rashi to transfer some production from Japan to the U.S.
The Berne, IN, city council approved $57 million in tax breaks for three Berne employers for equipment and building expansion.
“We’re fortunate,” executive vice president John Johnston told Journal Gazette reporter Sherry Slater. “We’re very busy.”
Key – headed by president Yoshio Jiganu and vice president Elaine Twigg – employs 87 and will add 10 workers at a median salary of $37,400 over the next two years.
