Kinefac Corporation is marking its 60th anniversary during 2022.
Founded in 1962 by Howard Greis to develop cylindrical die rolling machines, Greis had begun his career in 1958 as engineer at Reed Rolled Thread Die Co. in Holden, MA. He left Reed when the company was sold in 1961 and started Kinefac the next year.
“Kine” means movement in Greek and “facio” in Latin is “to make” and combining the names in metal forming meant “to make by moving.”
Kinefac’s first location was a brick building built in the 1870s in Worcester, MA. With the building slated for redevelopment, Kinefac moved in 1974 to a 40,000 sq ft building. In 1990 Kenefac moved to a newly constructed building with 55,000 sq ft of production space in its 80,000 sq ft total at 156 Goddard Memorial Dr., Worcester, MA 01603-1260.
Kinefac acquired a wire-forming company Sleeper & Hartley Inc. in 1991 for spring forming and Barrett Centrifugals Inc in 2004 for machinery with fluid recovery units.
Today Kinefac’s specialized metal forming, metalworking and processing equipment is sold worldwide. Its patented KineRoller thread rolling machines and Kineform dies produce fasteners. Web: Kinefac.com
