KOLB Builds China JV Plant for Auto Fasteners
KOLB U.S.A.
German fastener manufacturer KOLB, and two Chinese partners, began construction of a $58 million fastener plant in Handan, Hebei province, Fastener World of Taiwan reported.
Handan Tongda Machinery Co and Beijing Golden Five-Star Trade Group Co, and KOLB will produce high-end fasteners for automobile, airplane and machinery industries.
The joint venture plant annual production capacity is 8,000 tons.
Founded in 1910 as a screw manufacturer, KOLB began manufacturing stainless steel fasteanrs in 1932. In 1975 KOLB was acquired by New York-based ITT Corp. and in 1996 ITT sold it to Fredrich Mann, Heiko Rahm and Bernd Scheighoefer.
Recent figures show Wuppertal, Deutschland-based KOLB selling 42% of its products in Germany and 19 % in the U.S. KOLB has a U.S. facility in Pendergrass, GA. ©2011 GlobalFastenerNews.com and Fastener World magazine.
