Kostolansky Heads Forgers; Sales Down in 2003

Forging industry sales slipped for the third year in a row in 2003, according to the Forging Industry Association.
Impression die forging shipments decreased 3% to $3.9 billion; open die forging was down 5% to $647.1 million, and seamless rolled ring forging slipped 2% to $522.1 million.
David Kostolanski of Schaefer Equipment Inc. in Warren, OH, was elected association president.
Gregory Keeler of Aluminum Precision Products Inc. in Santa Ana, CA, was elected vice president. John Cain, Scot Forge Co., Spring Grove, IL; and Art Lattanzi, Louisville Forge & Gear Works, Georgetown, KY, were elected to the executive committee.
New directors are: Douglas Grimm, Metaldyne, Royal Oak, MI; Donald Larson, C.E. Larson & Sons Inc., Chicago; Randy Schoenfeldt, Patriot Forge Co., Brantford, Ontario, Canada; and Hudson Smith, SIFCO Industries Inc., Cleveland.
John Nowak, Walker Forge Inc., is president of the Forging Industry Education & Research Foundation and Michael Wicklund, Missouri Forge Inc., was elected vice president.
