Loosening Fasteners Prompt Jeep Recall

Loosening fasteners forced Chrysler Group to recall about 365,000 Jeep Wranglers worldwide, including 290,000 in the U.S.

Chrysler recalled all model year 2006 through 2010 Wranglers because fasteners on the front fender liners could loosen, allowing the liner to rub brake fluid tubes that could lead to leaks, which would cause partial loss of braking power, the New York Times reports.

“The company is not aware of any accidents, injuries or property damage related to this issue,” Chrysler said in a statement.

Fixing the problem involves removing parts of the liner that could touch the brake lines. ©2010 GlobalFastenerNews.com
