Malaysian stainless steel fastener manufacturer Tong Herr Resources Bhd. is doubling its investment in its Thailand plant to 40 million rgt (US$10.5 million) to spearhead an export thrust to the U.S., AFX Asia reported.
Managing director Tsai Ming-Ti said the Thai plant, scheduled for completion in October, was initially planned to have an annual production capacity of 5,000 tons. The additional investment will expand the plant”s production capacity in mid-2006.
Tsai claimed the planned expansion is driven by strong U.S. demand for stainless steel fasteners.
“To fully tap the market, we need to gradually increase the production capacity of the Thailand plant to 10,000 tons by 2007,” Tsai stated. \ 2005 FastenerNews.com
