Materials Engineers to Meet

John Wolz

Five leading materials organizations are sponsoring Materials Science & Technology 2005. More than 8,000 materials scientists and engineers are expected to attend the September 25-28, 2005, conference in Pittsburgh.
MS&T 2005 is organized by the ASM International; American Ceramic Societ, American Welding Society, Association for Iron and Steel Technology, and the Minerals, Metals & Materials Society.
There will be 40 sessions during the four-day conference.

“It’s not just about metals anymore,” said Srinath Viswanathan of Sandia National Laboratories, representing ASM. “When you talk about designing and manufacturing an automobile or an airplane, you’re not just talking about aluminum and steel. You’re talking about metals, corrosion, welding and joining, paints and coatings — each selected for performance and cost-effectiveness. By bringing all of these perspectives together at one meeting, all of us will benefit from the synergy of new ideas.”

The ASM Heat Treating Society Conference & Exposition will be co-located with MS&T. For information contact ASM. Tel: 440 338-5151 Fax 440 338-8629 Web: asminternational.org 2005 FastenerNews.com
