McIlhon Opens Assembled Products
John Wolz
Ed McIlhon, retired president of Bossard, Inc (BIP) and the former Iowa Industrial Products, formed Assembled Products Incorporated, a kits and bundles operation.
API purchased most of its assets from Bossard, which was in the process of spinning off the non-core business consisting of a kitting and light assembly operation.
API will continue to concentrate and enhance their efforts in kitting, bundling and light assembly functions as a value-added service to their customer base. API anticipates first year revenues to be $3 to $4 million.
McIlhon will act as chairman and sole shareholder and has appointed Matt Ulrich as president. Ulrich worked for McIlhon in special projects and is also his son-in-law.
API will remain in the Des Moines area in a 50,000 sq. ft. warehouse and office complex. The facility allows for expansion and sub-leasing. API is located at 11305 Meredith Ave., Urbandale, IA 50322. Tel: 515 278-7030. E-mail: iipem@aol.com
In 2005 McIlhon formed McIlhon & Associates Inc. a representation and consulting agency with his son, Casey McIlhon.
Bossard Group of Switzerland acquired Iowa Industrial Products in 1999 and the Cedar Falls, IA-based division is now known as Bossard IIP. Ed McIlhon formerly headed IIP and was the 1994-95 president of the National Fastener Distributors Association. 2006 FastenerNews.com
