McIlhon, Strandquist Lead NFDA for 2015-16
Casey McIlhon of Assembled Products is the new president of the National Fastener Distributors Association, and Marc Strandquist of Würth Group is vice president.
McIlhon, who succeeds Paul Tiffany of Copper State Bolt & Nut, is the fifth NFDA president from the McIlhon family. His grandfather, Dan McIlhon, who helped found the NFDA, was the first president from 1968-70.
McIlhon is third generation in the fastener industry. He started with the family company, Iowa Industrial Products, in high school, when he began kegging fasteners. After college he worked in outside sales. IIP was sold to Bossard in 1999.
In 2005 McIlhon started his own fastener rep agency, Chicago-based McIlhon & Associates. In early 2013 McIlhon closed his agency to join Assembled Products Inc. as executive VP of sales.
Strandquist started in the fastener industry in 1986 with Rockford Products. He has been with Würth since 2001.
Kameron Dorsey of Beacon Fasteners & Components is the new associate chair. He started in the fastener industry in 1995 with AFI Industries and has been with Beacon since 1998.
New NFDA board members: Kevin Godin, General Fasteners Co.; Adam Pratt, Sherex Corp.; and Jennifer Ruetz, AIS-All Integrated Solutions.
Continuing board members include Giovanni Cespedes, Falcon Fastening Solutions; Gary Cravens, Advance Components; Jim Lindrup, Great Lakes Fasteners & Supply; and Kevin Miller, Bamal Corp.
Outgoing board members were: Marty Goereem Elgin Group; Bob Luzum, Accurate Component Sales; and Kevin Reidl of Hodell-Natco Industries.
McIlhon said NFDA had a “good year financially” in 2014 – finishing with a $47,796 profit after a $2,314 profit for 2013. The NFDA had losses in 2011 and 2012. McIlhon projected a $6,220 profit for 2015.
