Minnesota Honors Fastenal for International Trade
Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton presented the 2013 Governor’s International Trade Award to Fastenal Co.
Winona, MN-based Fastenal has presence in 25 countries and all 50 U.S. states.
The governor’s office that each of nine companies recognized for the award were “selected for developing and continuing to grow a significant part of their business in foreign markets, for increasing or maintaining jobs in Minnesota to support international sales, and for developing novel approaches for competing globally.”
Ironically, Fastenal’s international executive vice president of international sales Steve Rucinski did not attend the awards ceremony at the Minnesota capitol because he was at a Fastenal opening in South Africa.
“It’s a confirmation that we are doing the right things,” Rucinski told the Winona Post. “This award is a reaffirmation that we’re taking the best of Minnesota and exporting it to the world.”
Rucinski said Fastenal continues “to assess new countries and draw new opportunities every year.” He said Fastenal will continue to expand internationally, but doesn’t “have an ‘x’ number of countries — it’s a dynamic list.”
