Modern Plating Receives Approval for Hexavalent Replacement
John Wolz
Modern Plating Corp. received General Motors certification for its Trivalent zinc nickel black finish which replaces hexavalent chromium and meets international automotive specifications. Hex chrome is a carcinogen and is being eliminated by companies in many industries globally.
MPC sales manager John Nordlof said zinc/nickel “offers the greatest corrosion resistance of all the zinc alloy finishes and is often used as a substitute for cadmium plus it offers resistace to heat and UV light and does not promote galvanic corrosion when in contact with light metals.”
