MSC Industrial Adding Co-Headquarters in North Carolina
MSC Industrial Direct Co. Inc. will open a co-headquarters in North Carolina, creating 400 jobs by 2012.
The North Carolina Economic Investment Committee awarded a job development grant to MSC equal to 70% of the state personal income withholding taxes derived from the creation of new jobs for each of 12 years MSC meets annual performance targets.
Also up to $3.92 million could be added to the state’s utility fund for infrastructure improvements in distressed counties.
If MSC meets the targets for 12 years the incentive could total $11.7 million.
MSC CEO David Sandler said the Charlotte area “provided the most compelling opportunity to strategically and cost-effectively grow our business.”
MSC will continue its co-headquarters in Melville, NY.
The new $31 million, 180,000 sq ft Davidson, NC facility will house management, IT, accounting, human resources, product management and marketing.
MSC’s minimum average wage of more than $79,000 is above Mecklenburg County’s average wage.
