New Owner Renames Threaded Rod Co.

Threaded Rod Co. is now known as Indianapolis Threaded Rod.

Acme Manufacturing Company of Colorado acquired Threaded Rod at the end of 2008 and added to the name.

Threaded Rod started in 1958 by Harry Branson in his Irvington, IN, garage. During his more than 50 years in the fastener industry Branson was in distribution 13 years and manufacturing 37 years. He died in 2006.

Rebecca Branson succeeded her father as CEO in 2002. She was the 2003-2005 associate chair for the National Fastener Distributors Association.

Indianapolis Threaded Rod is located at 1929 Columbia Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46202.

Founded in 1986 as the SteelWorks Corporation, the name was changed to Acme Manufacturing Company in 2006.

Originally SteelWorks was a manufacturer and distributor of metal shapes for do-it-yourselfers to the retail hardware trade. Since 1992, Acme has acquired other businesses that manufacture and distribute a variety of metal products.

Today Acme manufactures perforated angle and struts for the garage door industry; lawn edging, stakes, staples and pins for the landscape industry; and threaded rod for the electrical supply, plumbing supply, maintenance, and fire sprinkler industries.

Acme’s headquarters and primary manufacturing and distribution facilities are located in a 140,000 sq ft facility at 4661 Monaco St., Denver, CO. ©2009 GlobalFastenerNews.com
