NFDA Announces Partnership With

The National Fastener Distributors Association announced a partnership with e-fastener.com for online inventory sales.\
Technology committee chair Jim Derry told members at NFDA”s fall conference that the new affinity relationship gives them a discount in posting, buying and selling fasteners on the Internet.
Jeff McClelland, e-fastener director of marketing, said online posting is prime for surplus and on-hand inventory. “We are always on, worldwide, real-time,” McClelland pointed out. Online postings can be updated instantly, he added.
With rising prices, distributors have told him they “would like a way to find inventory that other distributors have but do not need and are willing to sell,” McClelland observed.
NFDA executive vice president Dave Merrifield explained that membership surveys showed a “resounding “Yes!”” to NFDA members wanting an online inventory service.
Fastener distributors have traditionally relied on paper-based excess inventory listings but those are rarely updated and costly to the distributor.
John Barnicle, president of e-fastener, predicted the partnership will “help drive accelerated acceptance and growth of electronic commerce within the fastener industry.”
“I think every industry needs to be taking advantage of the Internet to help them reach customers and conduct business in a cost-effective manner,” Barnicle recommended.
e-fastener.com was founded in 1997 as a listing service and evolved into an e-commerce portal. It was acquired by Partini in 2000 and returned to independent status after Partini went into bankruptcy.
