NHTSA Probing Fastener Problem with Hyundai

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has just opened a probe into the 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe because of the steering shaft, which may separate, InAutoNews.com reports.
The NHTSA says an estimated 70,000 Hyundai Santa Fe models from the 2011 model year will be affected by this probe, which will focus on a fastener allegedly becoming loose in the steering shaft of a model. The vehicle in question had about 22 months and 33,000 miles of service at the time of the incident.

“We are aware of just one customer complaint to NHTSA alleging a ‘loss’ of steering with a previous-model Santa Fe,” stated Hyundai spokesman Jim Trainor. “We are trying to determine the details of this complaint and will work closely with NHTSA in assisting them in their investigation.” ©2012 GlobalFastenerNews.com
