The North Coast Fastener Association’s Distributor Social in July drew 225 to 250 participants, leading to comments that fastener people are ready to return to events.

Marty Nolan of R.L. English Co. noted the Distributor Social was one of the first fastener events since Covid began and “expectations were high, but guarded. The event did not disappoint.”

First held in 2009, the Distributor Social was created as an evening event in the Cleveland market to be less-expensive alternative to table top trade shows. The 2020 event was cancelled due to Covid-19.

The 2021 event included a training class on hydrogen embrittlement and a luncheon and tour at Strongsville, OH-based fastener manufacturer Solution Industries. Solution’s products include sockets, hex, bolts, pins, rod, screws and washers plus services include finishes, coatings and machining. Web: SolutionInd.com

Solution’s Laura Vath said lunch was served to 160 people.

“If this event was any indication of whether fastener industry personnel are ready to return to social gatherings, our upcoming shows and conferences should be great events,” Nolan said.

Solutions Industries owner John Radel declared he “was happy just to watch individuals from the industry interacting in person after not being able to do so for such a long period of time.”
