Novario Group Consolidates Fastener Operations

Novaria Group is relocating subsidiary Sky Aerospace Products from Los Angeles to Westbury, CT, where it will coexist with another Novaria company – John Hassall Inc., which Novaria acquired in January, Innovate Long Island reports.
Both will coexist in John Hassall’s 65,000 sq ft space, under the Novaria Fastening Systems banner. Sky Aerospace Products’ certified line includes a number of bolts made from high-strength alloys including stainless steel and titanium.
“The transfer of existing (Sky Aerospace Products) assets and installation at John Hassall is well underway,” said Novaria Fastening Systems president Monty Gillespie. “We have put a great deal of planning into this move and we are very excited to see our plans becoming reality.”
To help create that reality, Empire State Development agreed to provide Novaria with up to $1.2 million in Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits, Innovate Long Island reports. In exchange, Novaria agreed to create 57 new jobs, retain the 81 existing jobs in the John Hassall facility and maintain those staffing levels through 2025.
Novaria had been considering “a number of competing sites throughout North America,” according to ESD.
“Long Island has an extensive aerospace manufacturing history and an educated workforce ready and able to build the aircraft that will carry us into the future,” ESD CEO Howard Zemsky stated. “By taking advantage of existing infrastructure and moving into an operational factory, Sky Aerospace will be able to start work quickly, creating jobs and moving the economy forward.”
Novaria plans to invest in capital equipment upgrades at the Westbury site, according to the state’s top economic-development agency. The John Hassall facility currently produces aircraft-engine fasteners, bolts, rivets and blade locks, along with other flight-critical hardware.
“The addition of Sky Aerospace Products will advance John Hassall as a dependable source for the global commercial aerospace and military markets, according to Novario Group co-CEO Bryan Perkins.
Gillsepie said the Novaria Fastening Systems division would begin producing Sky Aerospace Products components this winter.
