Leon “Lee” Bookman, 91, died February 13, 2017.
He joined Heads & Threads Company in 1959, was appointed president in 1967 and later under Alleghany Corporation became CEO of Heads & Threads International LLC and ultimately chairman.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Carole; son Marc (Toshiko) Bookman; daughters Jodi (Michael) Berger and Susan Bookman; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Services were held February 20, 2017. Interment in Shalom Memorial Park.

2000 FIN – Alleghany Now Growing in Fasteners
The fastener industry knew Lee Bookman and the fastener importing and distributing business he headed for decades, Heads & Threads. The parent company was hardly a household name in the fastener industry until Alleghany Corp. acquired Gardenbolt Int’l in 1998.

It was very sad to hear of the passing of Mr. Lee Bookman.I first met him in 1986 and since then always met him atleast once a year till he worked for H&T.
we still remember the times we spent with him and we learned a lot from him. He will remain in our memory for ever.
May God give strength to you, Mark…and grand children to bear the loss of such a great leader.
