Orbitform Group owner Mike Shirkey was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives on November 2, 2010.

In his first campaign for public office, Shirkey, running as a Republican with tea party support, won 63% of the vote in Michigan’s 65th district.

Shirkey also is the former head of the Allegiance Health’s governing board.

He ran on a platform of limited government, free markets and personal responsibility. “It’s time for us to get government back in our hands, and the way to do that is get government off our backs,” Shirkey said.

The economy was the main campaign issue. Shirkey said he would make structural changes to stop Michigan from losing jobs, people and national stature. E-mail: mike@mikeshirkey.com
