PennEngineering expanded operations in Galway, Ireland, with a new 80,000 sq ft manufacturing and research facility. The new facility becomes the primary manufacturing site for all PEM self-clinching fastener products sold throughout Europe.

In addition, the site houses a new R&D center and an application engineering center for custom fastener and installation design and test capabilities.

“The new facility is an especially environmentally friendly site incorporating the latest sustainability and ecological technologies, sensor-controlled automatic-dimming lighting, and waste-oil and heat-recovery systems, among other innovations,” the company stated.

The expansion raises the total footprint of PennEngineering operations in Galway to more than 200,000 sq ft. The site employs 200 workers to serve industrial, automotive, electronics, medical, energy, and aviation markets in Europe. PennEngineering first launched operations in Galway in 2001 when it acquired Precision Steel Components.
