Porteous Acquires Division of U.S. Anchor
John Wolz
Porteous Fastener Company acquired the expansion anchor division of U.S. Anchor Corporation of Pompano Beach, FL, in a joint announcement by the companies” executives, Hart McIntyre and Barry Porteous. \
“We are very pleased to announce that we have sold our mechanical anchor division, U.S. Anchor, to Porteous Fastener, allowing us to concentrate on our adhesives division,” McIntyre explained. “We have been in business for nearly 20 years as one company but have operated essentially as two divisions for many of those years. Our primary division manufactures adhesives, and the other operates as an importer and wholesaler of mechanical anchors. In recent years it has become increasingly obvious that our true passion is in the manufacture and sales of chemical-related products, with our UltraBond line of anchoring adhesives.”
The anchoring adhesives business will now be known as Adhesives Technology Corp.
Carson, CA-based Porteous is a master distributor with 14 U.S. stocking locations.
Porteous will use the U.S. Anchor trade name and sell only to distributors. All of the mechanical fasteners currently sold by U.S. Anchor will be offered by Porteous nationwide, including the proprietary Ultrawedge anchor.
Jim Hahn joined Porteous from U.S. Anchor to be anchor product manager.
“We are excited about expanding our product offering to many of our current customers and being able to add new customers that will be introduced to our wide range of products and services,” Barry Porteous explained. “Once we can build up the necessary inventories, we will be stocking these anchor products throughout the country at key PFC locations.”
U.S. Anchor product has already been stocked in the Porteous Tampa warehouse. Incoming inventory will initially come to the Carson headquarters and eventually be in all Porteous facilities.
