The Fastener Show and the Fastener Industry Coalition chose Sherex Fastening Solutions president Adam Pratt for the 2017 Young Fastener Professional Award.
This is the second Young Fastener Professional of the Year Award recognizing a person under 40 who has made significant contributions to the fastener industry.
The award ceremony will be at 3:30 pm Wednesday, October 18, at The Fastener Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Nominees are reviewed by the Fastener Industry Coalition, comprised of 13 North American regional and national fastener associations concerned with the distribution, manufacture and importation of fasteners as well as services to the fastener industry.
Pratt founded Sherex at age 24, and has grown the Buffalo, NY, company from seven employees into a global manufacturer with 170 employees worldwide. Under his leadership, Sherex has developed innovative products as the patented Riv-Float and Riv-Float Short, a full hex product line, and the largest diameter rivet nut product line. With revenue topping $30 million annually, Sherex has been nominated nine times as one of Buffalo’s top Fast Track businesses in western New York, and six times for Best Places to Work in Buffalo. His work in the western New York includes involvement is the Buffalo Manufacturing Works and a chair of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership’s Manufacturer’s Council.
Through Sherex, money has been raised through philanthropic initiatives including the 11 Day Power Play, an attempt to beat the world record for longest continuous hockey game, cancer research, and the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Pratt sponsors a University of Kentucky program to assist foster youth pursuing higher education, and sponsors business development through peer-to-peer learning support as Forum Chair for the local chapter of the Entrepreneurs Organization. He founded the Automated Fastener Assembly Systems Group to combine new technologies and develop strategic global partnerships.
