Belarus-based Rechitza Metiz Plant plans to start production of high-grade fasteners by 2009. The company has developed a $ 4.5 million investment project to purchase equipment and create a testing laboratory, Fastener, Adhesives, Tools and … magazine reports. Rechitza Metiz Plant will be the first to produce this kind of hard components in Belarus.

Some bolt makers have already been delivered. Preproduction runs of the new fastener ranges will be carried out at the end of 2008.

Plant director Adam Vashkov said the quality of new fasteners will depend greatly upon the quality of steel stock material.

“Belarus Metallurgical plant specialists have successfully solved the problem of special steel production, which is why (Vashkov) is so confident that domestic high-duty fasteners will correspond to the world standards,” writes FAT editor Alexander Ostashov.

The company plans to export about 80% of the fasteners produced.

Rechitza Metiz Plant, one of the first enterprises of metallurgical industry in Belarus, was founded in 1912 as a manufacturer of nail and wire products. The company employs about 2,000 workers to produce special nails and fastener products for sale to most European countries.
