China is ready to levy additional tariffs on about $60 billion of imports from the U.S., ChinaFastener.Info reports.

The move is reportedly a response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s August 2 decision to hike the Section 301 tariff rate on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods, including fasteners, to 25% from 10%.

If implemented, the 25% duty on imports from China would be the third round of Section 301 tariffs on Chinese goods imposed by the Trump administration. Trump has said the tariffs are in response to China’s unfair trade practices. A decision is expected by the end of September.

In response, China plans to slap additional tariffs on 5,207 categories of U.S. products, including fasteners, according to ChinaFastener.Info.

China’s latest round of tariffs would become effective “if the U.S. further hinders bilateral trade by renewing tariffs on more Chinese products,” the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council announced.
