Rockford Products Sells Aftermarket Business To RB Distribution

Rockford Products Corp. agreed to sell its consumer-products division to an aftermarket auto-parts supplier as part of its bankruptcy dealings, according to the Rockford Register Star. Rockford International Group’s OEM business was not included in the deal.
Rockford International Group”s retail fastener and auto parts line was sold to RB Distribution for more than $3 million. RB Distribution, an affiliate of Dorman Products, intends to relocate production. Colmar, PA-based Dorman Products (formerly R&B Inc.) reported 2006 sales of $295.8 million with more than 900 employees.
The bankruptcy judge will review the case on Sept. 5.
An unnamed buyer is negotiating to acquire Rockford Products’ Cold Formed Products, according to the Star. A deal is expected Sept. 6.
Rockford Products filed Chapter 11 on July 25, hit by sinking automotive product sales and rising pension costs. Founded in 1929 as Rockford Screw Products, employee-owned Rockford Products manufactures and distributes ball studs, cold formed fasteners and other specialty products.
