Rolston Recovery Fund Started

A fund has been established to assist Karl Rolston in recovery from a traffic collision. Rolston, 23-year-old son of fastener rep Doug Rolston of Assembly Products & Sales of Arlington, TX, stopped to help a stranded motorist on October 11, 2003, and was sideswiped. The other driver was arrested after failing a sobriety test.
Both of Rolstons ankles were broken, the left one shattered so badly that it was turned the opposite way. His left knee was dislocated and his left arm was severed.
Rolston now wears braces on both legs, uses a wheelchair and faces months of therapy. He will be fitted for a prosthesis, and it will be months before he can return to work.
Just before the crash Rolston was volunteering at a haunted house benefiting the Texas Special Olympics.
The other driver was uninsured. The five-week hospital stay cost about $200,000. Rolston was covered by his mothers health insurance plan.
Friends have sponsored a motorcycle ride and pool hall night to raise funds for his recovery. Donations may be made to the Karl Rolston Recovery Fund and sent c/o the Southwestern Fastener Association, 292 Sugarberry Circle, Houston, TX 77024. Messages to the Rolstons may be sent to doug@assemblyproducts.biz or Assembly Products, 3426 Dalworth, Arlington, TX 76011. \ 2004 FastenerNews.com
