Rotor Clip Company and Rotor Clip Ltd. are now certified to IATF 16949:2016, the new automotive standard replacing the previous TS16949.

Rotor Clip announced it is among the first 50 companies in the world to pass the IATF 16949 audit.

The new IATF standard focuses on developing a quality management system, which emphasizes continuous improvement to prevent defects and waste throughout the supply chain. It involves risk assessment, learning from inputs such as customer complaints, internal and external audits and improvement efforts.

Rotor Clip announced it has “instituted a number of specific changes to comply with the requirements and, more importantly, the spirit of the standard.”

Those include installs digital gauges on certain processes to automatically output data for efficient analysis; automating lab equipment maintenance to ensure timely testing to avoid shipment delays; improving production of wire EDM machines by selecting premium brass wire to maximize cutting time and produce tools quickly.

The International Automotive Task Force announced IATF 16949:2016 in October 2016 and it supersedes ISO/TS 16949. The version was developed with industry feedback through an ad hoc group of automotive manufacturers and their respective trade associations.

IATF has European, U.S. and China oversight offices. In the U.S. it is headed by the International Automotive Oversight Bureau from an office in the Southfield, MI, suburb of Detroit. Web: IAOB.org
