Aerospace fastener and components manufacturer Shimtech Industries was renamed Avantus Aerospace.
“The AVANTUS name is indicative of our broader capabilities and product offerings,” explained CEO Brian Williams.
Avantus is owned by Inflexion Private Equity and Auctus Industries, both based in London, with management headquarters in Santa Clarita, CA.
Avantus has divisions that include five manufacturing facilities in the US, three in Europe and one in Mexico to serve aerospace customers in the civil, military and aftermarket sectors, including Boeing, Airbus, Spirit AeroSystems, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, Mitsubishi, HondaJet, Collins Aerospace, Bombardier and De Havilland.
Avantus includes Attewell, Lamsco, Bolsan, Fastener Technology Corp. (FTC), Pillar Seals & Gaskets (PSG), Performance Plastics (PPI), Angeles Composites (ACTI), and SDM Composites.
Shimtech traces its roots back to the early 1940s, with portfolio company Attewell being founded in 1942. Hampson Industries acquired Attewell and PSG in 1996 and added Bolsan in 1998. By 2011, Hampson Industries re-branded the four businesses as Shimtech Industries, which was sold to Bridgepoint Development Capital in 2011. Inflexion and Actus acquired Shimtech in 2015.
