� Danaher Corp. announced three new corporate officer appointments.
Daniel Comas was named senior vice president of finance and corporate devlopment. Comas has been with Danaher since 1991 and has handled the company�s mergers and acquisitions since 1996.
Lawrence Kingsley was appointed vice president and group executive. Kingsley has been with Danaher since 2000 and will continue to head up the Industrial Controls group.
Philip Whitehead, who joined Danaher in 1992, was named vice president and managing director. He managed the company�s corporate development in Europe prior to his promotion.

Sigma opened last month with Judy Jandl, Jerry Jandl, Cris Baker, Charles Moran, Steve Brust and Patty Paton as the initial employees. LSS Lone Star was sold by T-3 Energy Services to a new investor partnership, Lone Star Fasteners L.P. (see FIN, March 23, 2003). Judy Jandl, who started in the fastener industry in 1967, said all the Sigma employees have at least 15 years of fastener experience.

� Vertex Fasteners CEO David Hirsch announced completion of the merger with West-Spec Partners of Chatsworth, CA, and full integration of its 11 U.S. distribution centers.
Vertex opened shipping centers in Atlanta and Dallas to expand its geographic base. A new Chicago facility has 80% more capacity, and Los Angeles grew 50%.
Hirsch noted that the merged company�s larger market share gives customers �a broader selection of fasteners, flexible manufacturing, expanded distribution capacity� and broader experience base.
Vertex supplies industrial distributors serving the petroleum and chemical processing, electronics, municipal water treatment systems, food processing, power generation and cooling, and lawn care markets.
