Apex Tool Group is marking 50 years as a Torx drive system licensee.

Acument Global Technologies, a supplier of mechanical fastening technology, noted Apex became a licensee on February 20, 1967, when the two companies were known as Camcar Screw & Manufacturing Company and Apex Machine & Tool.

Howard Steele, Apex director of global sales, said the company “is proud of our half-century relationship with Acument and its iconic Torx drive systems. It is an honor to be one of the very first Torx licensees, and over the years our customers have seen tremendous value in ATG being one of the few worldwide manufacturers selected to produce Torx fitments.”

Marty Bieschke, Acument director of IP & licensing, noted “ATG remains one of the main suppliers of quality Torx tools used in every corner of the world.”

It was now fifty years ago that the Apex Machine & Tool signed the license to develop the first Torx drive tools that helped launch the product into the market.

The Torx drive system was introduced in the 1960s to provide a high-performance drive system for threaded assemblies in a broad range of applications and end-use markets, including automotive, industrial, electronics and aerospace markets.

Owned by Fontana Gruppo and headquartered in Sterling Heights, MI, Acument provides mechanical fastening products and services for the transportation market, including engineered fastening systems, inventory management services and application engineering support.  Web: Acument.com
