AS9100 registration is an aviation, space, and defense quality standard, based on the ISO9001 quality management system, and supported by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG).
“Certification to the demanding standards required by AS9100 proves our commitment to the aerospace market”, general manager Chris Thomas explained. “Ultimately, waste is reduced and overall costs are lowered by utilizing suppliers who are AS9100 certified, Thomas added.

Atlas Bolt & Screw Co. president Randy Ridenour will retire at the end of 2016 after 32 years with the company. He will serve as a company consultant during 2017.
Ridenour joined Atlas in 1984 as central region branch manager and held positions of increasing responsibility leading to his promotion to president in November 2009.
“Throughout his career, Randy has made a significant positive impact not only on Atlas but also on numerous industry associations where he is highly respected for his service,” said Michael Hartley, President of the Marmon Construction Fasteners Group.
With Ridenour’s retirement, Scott Bowers, Atlas business unit manager for metal, and Don Bratcher, business unit manager for wood, will each have full autonomy to run their business. Both will report directly to Hartley.

The Rhode Island plant for Groov-Pin Corp. received a Level 1 Polaris MEP Manufacturing Innovation Challenge award. Thirty-two Rhode Island manufacturers received awards totaling $700,000.
The Polaris Manufacturing Extension Partnership is a non-profit part of the University of Rhode Island Research Foundation. Polaris describes the challenge as a “competitive opportunity for Rhode Island manufacturers to access expertise and hands-on design and product-development talent to stimulate business growth, innovation and strategic advancement.”
Polaris said the challenge represents the state’s “most significant investment in Rhode Island’s manufacturing sector,” by crediting federal funds through R.I. Commerce Corp.
Level 1 focuses on strategic assessment, giving manufacturers access to up to 75 hours of a team of experts. Each award at this level is valued at $15,000. Level 2 focuses on growth implementation. Based on Level 1 ideas, manufacturers have access to up to $35,000 for business development consulting to “take their company to the next level.”
