Acme Industrial Company joined the Aerospace Industries Association supplier management council as part of growth in sales for aerospace applications.
“As an increasingly large portion of our products are being incorporated into aircraft systems, it is important to join the conversation between customers, suppliers, peers and competitors,” sales & marketing manager Scott McCullough said.
Founded in 1914 as Acme Industrial Company to manufacture shaft seals, drill bushings, dowel pins, and liner pins in Chicago, Acme moved to its current location in 1970 and was acquired by tooling component manufacturer Jergens Inc. in 1973.
Acme began manufacturing industrial grade keylocking thread repair inserts for Jergens in 1988; keylocking inserts to military and national aerospace specifications in 2002; and studs in 2005.

Active Screw & Fastener promoted Ed Esparza to associate director of sourcing, CEO Buddy Blattner announced.
Esparza joined Active Screw in 2004 as quality assurance manager and for the past two years has been senior sourcing manager and new products introduction manager. Esparza has traveled overseas to develop supplier relationships.
Earlier this year Active acquired Action Threaded Products, a distributor of stainless steel, ferrous, non-ferrous, and specialty products. Raul Torres stayed on as president.

Aircraft Hardware West and Richco Inc. are marketing products from the partnership established in 2009 during the Long Beach Aircraft Interior Expo in September.
AHW CEO Frank Ioffrida said the collaborative venture was started to develop the initial stages for design and development of fasteners used by AHW customers. Ioffrida said working with Richco is a result of listening to customers in order to grow the “business in the targeted areas that require not only monetary investment of a wide range of inventories, but also in areas of services like design tooling and inventory management system to best serve our clients.”

Shanghai Duncan Bolt opened a second warehouse in China. The new facility in Tianjin will supply northwest China customers who import fasteners.

Fasteners Inc. is expanding. The Bellingham, WA-area branch moved to provide more showroom space for DIY customers.

“I can’t speak for the rest of the industry, but from our perspective, the fastener market is thriving,” founder and president Greg Fields said.
Even having just weathered some of the worst economic conditions since the Great Depression, Fields say his company has never experienced negative year-to-year growth during their ten years of operation.
