AFT Fasteners acquired and expanded a building in Dallas/Fort Worth market for a new fastener distribution center. Marketing manager Lance Thorley said it increases capacities for metal plating, wet paint, dry film lube and Xylan coatings.
AFT also created specialized sales departments for high-tech clients with needs in the electronic hardware, Mil-Spec/aerospace and industrial services. The departments provide for hardware kitting, fastener modifications and customer specifications.
AFT also recently opened a Houston facility.

Atlantic Fasteners Aerospace got a pair of Lockheed Martin subcontracts worth at least $87,000 to supply aerospace fasteners and other locking components for two years, aerospace director Marc Dionne announced.
One contract covers 67 fasteners for a mobile radar system. The second is for 55 parts used on a wireless, through-the-earth communications system, designed for contacting underground mines after accidents occur.
Dionne said earning the Lockheed STAR award in 2008 and maintaining its high quality rating helped Atlantic gain more Lockheed business.

The installation features PV Trackers’ dual-axis solar trackers. The Dura-Con line consists of steel fasteners with a proprietary coating tested for solar applications.
The Prineville, OR center uses 38% less energy than Facebook’s existing facilities and is expected to become LEED gold certified.
Facebook director of technical operations said the data center “is built for energy efficiency and is a milestone for Facebook” in “setting new standards for environmental responsibility in data center design and operations.”

Simpson Strong-Tie celebrated the grand opening of a new southern California operation, which was relocated from Brea to Riverside to increase plant capacity and improve efficiency. The event drew 140 customers plus local and state officials.
The new 400,000 sq ft facility is in Riverside’s Aqua Mansa redevelopment area 30 miles east of Brea, housing office, manufacturing and warehouse staff.
“At our former Brea location, our employees, equipment and inventory were scattered throughout six buildings,” branch manager and vice president Murray Daniels said. “Now everything is under one roof, which will increase efficiency and allow us to grow in the future.”
