Cardinal Fastener Inc., a manufacturer of large diameter hot forged fasteners, hosted a tour of its 90,000 sq ft plant for Fastener Training Institute’s Fastener Training Week in Cleveland.  

Cardinal demonstrated its five new CNC machines, a Forny 600,000-pound capacity tensile tester, optical comparators, hardness testers, magnetic particle inspection, hundreds of thread gauges, and other test/measurement equipment.

Founded in 1983, Cardinal Fastener became an early fastener manufacturer to receive ISO 9001:2008 certification, president Bill Boak noted. After acquisition by Würth Group in 2011, Cardinal expanded manufacturing and quality capabilities and added training programs.

Ray Robinson retired after 50 years in the fastener industry, including 42 years with HRS Logistics.  He started with HRS in 1972 in Arlington, TX, delivering fasteners to local companies. HRS moved to Tyler, TX, in 1981.

Robinson was one of the founders of the Southwestern Fastener Association in 1974 and was president in 1979. SFA presented Robinson with the Mickey McClure Award in 2004.

HRS Logistics merged with Illinois-based Field Fastener earlier this year.  HRS had grown 155% in the past four years.

Brian Robinson, his son, succeeds Ray Robinson, heading the Tyler operation.

Founded in 1972 as a local fastener distributor delivering to local companies. HRS grew to a global distributor and importer of fasteners and specialty items, with VMI programs in the southern U.S. and Mexico.

Corporate counsel Brian Pugh said the new headquarters “allows room for future growth, and we do expect to add jobs.”

The new facility includes a pallet rack system for rapid shipment.

Founded in 1979 in Mobile, Threaded Fasteners has six warehouses in four states, carrying $5 million in inventory for stainless steel fabricators, marine construction, power general facilities, metal building manufacturing and other industries.  Mobile area customers will continue to be served from the company’s downtown branch.

Threaded Fasteners is an ESOP with branches in Gulfport, MS.; Pensacola, Panama City and Tampa, FL.; Tulsa, OK.; a 60,000-sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Semmes; plus Threaded Fasteners Canada.

 

TriMas Corp. named Tom Aepelbacher president of its Aerospace & Defense segment, which includes Monogram Aerospace Fasteners, Mac Fasteners, Martinic Engineering, Inc. and NI Industries.

CEO Dave Wathen called Aepelbacher “a seasoned operations leader with 30 years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain and lean initiatives.”

Aepelbacher replaces Monogram Aerospace president David Adler, who had led the Aerospace & Defense segment since 2012.  Adler will now focus on aerospace product development, and will report to Aepelbacher.

Aepelbacher, who holds a BS in industrial manufacturing, joined TriMas in 2003.
