Cook owner Steve Malone has been a rep since 1987, when his father, Art Malone, acquired the agency from Cook Jordan.
Cook Industrial dates its history back to the founding of railroad and scrap steel supplier Geo. T. Cook Co. in 1910. Cook Industrial eventually was divided from the parent company.

Cinco Industries installed the first Hyo Dong Model HBF-5181 cold header from South Korea imported into the U.S. at Slidematic Precision Components in Rockford, IL.

EFC International named two new sales engineers: Leslie Metzer joins the Bloomingdale, IL, branch and Tom Merrill is based in Dallas.
Metzer will be responsible for application development and account management in the Chicago area. Her previous experience was with Mid-States Bolt & Screw, General Fastener and Oetiker Connecting Technology.
Merrill will cover Texas and Oklahoma He has been an key account manager for Volvo Compressor NA, Behr America and Eaton Corp. He has worked with Dimler/International Truck, Paccar, Caterpillar, Volvo, Lennox, Carrier, GM, Ford and Chrysler.
DFC director of sales Guenter Retkowski cited their sales, product development, automotive and industrial experience as “additions to Team EFC.”

Elgin Fastener Group named Dale Knotek to its management team.
Knotek has 33 years of fastener experience as an industrial engineer and design consultant in automotive, hardware, construction, military and specialty fastener markets. He has been involved in setting up manufacturing operations in Europe and Asia. Knotek will be based at the EFG headquarters in Indiana.
Elgin Fastener Group also promoted Joe Johannigman to accounting manager and Mike Hughes to operations manager at the Ohio Rod Products division.
Johannigman has been with Ohio Rod for six years and previously was systems administrator.
Hughes has been sales correspondent, sales supervisor and inside sales manager during his 18 years with Ohio Rod. His responsibilities will include management of daily plant operations and coordination between various departments.

Lawson Products Inc. appointed Bob Border to senior vice president and chief information officer and Lawrence Krema to senior vice president for human resources of its Illinois operating company.
COO Harry Dochelli said Border and Krema have been involved in developing Lawon’s long-term growth strategy.
Border 47, will oversee Lawson’s information technology, including application development, infrastructure, eCommerce and enterprise information management.
Krema, 50, will work with the senior leadership to align human resources with the company strategy.

After one year of semi-retirement of working 32 hours a week, Bruce Darling has returned to his vice president / materials management role at Porteous Fastener Company.
Darling has been with Porteous for 20 years. He started in the fastener industry 43 years ago with Bosco Fastening Service Center in Dallas.
He has made over 35 trips to the Orient, 1,500 visits to more than 400 factories or trading companies in Canada, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and the U.S.
Darling has spoken at more than 30 fastener association meetings and conventions. He was inducted in the NIFS Hall of Fame in 2006.

P&R Fasteners is adding 1,400 rooftop solar panels to its 100,000 sq ft New Jersey plant to offset 99% of the building’s annual electrical load.
“We recognize the growing awareness and demand for environmentally proactive practices from our customers, partners and employees and believe this project is representative of P&R’s commitment to meeting them,” controller Douglas Joyce said. “After a comprehensive assessment, we determined a solar PV project would be the best way to further our sustainability objectives.”
The solar system is designed and installed by Solis Partners. The solar panels will generate approximately 295,000 kilowatt hours of electricity and eliminate more than 400,000 pounds of CO2 emissions annually.
The panels are in conjunction with a white “cool” roof
system. The reflective roof enhances energy efficiency of the building envelope plus increases solar production. The solar facility will be completed in March 2011 .

Rotor Clip Company Inc. will be honored as Company of the Year for Franklin Township, New Jersey, at an awards dinner April 1, 2011, with Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno.

WAFIOS AG named Dr. Christoph Müller-Mederer as sales & marketing director on the company’s board, chairman Thomas Hösle announced.
He studied mechanical engineering, has a doctorate degree and had been with the German machinery and plant engineering company Voith.
Müller-Mederer succeeds Egon Reich, who will continue on the board until 2013.
WAFIOS recently opened a service center in northern Bavaria near the Czech Republic for the German federal states, Czech Republic and Poland. The center provides repairs, parts and training. There are 110 employees and the center is headed by Tobias Kollarik and Thomas Friedrich.
