Falcon Metal Corporation marked the first National Manufacturing Day on October 5, 2012, with a reception honoring manufacturers and their employees. Guests included Charlotte city council and Chamber of Commerce members, North Carolina Veterans Commission and USO-Charlotte.
Falcon president Don Nowak noted 14.5% of North Carolina residents have manufacturing jobs and 19.5% of the state’s gross domestic product comes from manufacturing. North Carolina is the fifth largest manufacturing state.
As part of Manufacturing Day, Falcon Metal donated $850 to the USO-Charlotte, which serves 8,000 traveling military personnel and families at the Charlotte-Douglas Airport each month.

Great Lakes Fasteners won the Cascade Capital Growth Award for the second consecutive year after posting “sizable revenue gains and for creating new jobs for Northeast Ohio.”

Hisco Inc. president Bob Dill announced four new vice-presidents: Cindy Saigling, branch manager, Dallas; Richard French, branch manager, San Diego; Monte Schlaht, branch manager, Tempe; and HR manager Priscilla Everett.
Saigling started with Hisco during college and joined full-time in 1980; French joined Hisco as a customer service rep in 1987; Schlaht started 20-years ago in warehousing; and Everett has 35 years in HR, including 12 at Hisco.

Michael DeCata was named president and CEO of Lawson Products. He succeeds Thomas Neri, who retired.
Chairman Ronald Port cited DeCata’s experience as a senior executive. “His experience in MRO distribution is the perfect match for Lawson,” Port stated.
Since 2009, DeCata has worked in private equity,. Other positions include leading the eastern region of Grainger.

Lindstrom Metric LLC completed moving into a new Northeast Service Center. The new facility has 35,000 sq ft of warehouse space with 24 ft ceiling clearance, which doubles the space of the former Beacon, NY location. The facility has 25 employees.

Wurth USA opened a new distribution center in Dallas to serve customers in 9 states.
“With the addition of this new distribution center, Wurth will have the ability to ship to nearly any customer in the continental United States within two business days, in addition to offering a same day delivery option to customers in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area,” the company stated.
“In order to properly serve our customers in Texas and the South-Central US, we needed a solution for getting supplies to customers faster,” noted CEO Michael Krause. “As part of our growth strategy in this region, it was important for us to invest in a Dallas distribution center.”
