SHORTTAKES: Nylok, Kerr Lakeside, Intercorp
Max Dorflinger is retiring as Nylok Corporation president and Woody Petchel of the parent company succeeds him.
Nilo Urbani was named general manager for the International Division and Jim Zima succeeds Urbani as general manager for North America.
Dorflinger was the 1996-97 chair of the Industrial Fasteners Institute and 1988-89 associate chair of the National Fastener Distributors Association.
The IFI honored Dorflinger with it Soaring Eagle Ward Leadership Award in 2008.
Nylok manufactures fastener processes and coatings for self locking, self sealing and thread protection. Nylok has plants in Michigan Illinois, California and New Jersey and has 20 licensees in Europe, Asia and South America.
Petchel comes from Berkshire Hathaway Company – owner of the Marmon Group, which acquired Nylok in 2000. Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway acquired Marmon in 2008.
Petchel is Marmon’s sector president who is assuming Nylok’s presidency. Zima also joins Nylok from Marmon. Prior to Marmon, Zima was with ITW.
Nylok was founded in 1942 and has registered more than 150 patents.

Kerr Lakeside Inc. added Chuck Reid to its outside sales force.
Reid has 30 years of sales experience in the fastener industry, including work with cold-headed and screw machine product manufacturers, and a rolled thread die maker.
Reid will be responsible for sales in Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, and the western sections of Pennsylvania and New York. He will call on both distributors and O.E.M. accounts.

Intercorp appointed David Harlan as its new marketing director. Harlan will handle the company’s flagship brand, Strong-Point.
“David has 15 years of marketing experience and has a proven record of building brand awareness and market share within highly competitive markets,” the company stated.
