SHOW NEWS: Colin Powell to Keynote STAFDA

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell will be the keynote speaker at the 29th annual Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association convention, executive director Georgia Foley announced. \
Powell”s speech, titled “Leadership: Taking Charge,” will be on Monday morning of the November 6-8, 2005, convention in Baltimore. All convention participants are welcome with no extra charge for the Powell speech.
Powell spent 35 years in the military and rose to the rank of four-star general. He was chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the 1991 Persian Gulf War and was the 65th secretary of state from 2001 to 2005.
Born in New York City to Jamaican immigrants, Powell was raised in the Bronx. He attended New York public schools and received a bachelor”s degree in geology from City College of New York.
Previous STAFDA keynote speakers have included Bob Dole, Jack Kemp, Tim Russert, George Will and former presidents Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan.
