The giant computer show that crowds Las Vegas has been canceled for 2004. The National Industrial Fastener Show/West has been scheduled several years during the Comdex and was set for Thursday/Friday of the Comdex week this year until NIFS moved this year”s show to a week earlier November 10-12, 2004 in Las Vegas.
The NIFS” 2005 show remains scheduled November 16-18 during the next Comdex November 13-17, 2005.
New Comdex owners established an advisory board representing the information technology industry to redesign the annual event. Comdex drew 40,000 qualified buyers and 900 journalists in 2003.
“In the year since we assumed the responsibility of managing the technology industry”s largest annual event, we have sought to reposition Comdex and rebuild the market”s trust,” explained MediaLive CEO Robert Priest-Heck. “While we could still run a profitable Comdex this year, it does not benefit the industry to do so without broader support of the leading technology companies. In order to give the advisory board the time and opportunity necessary to partake in the redesign of Comdex, we thought it best to postpone this year”s show.” \ 2004 FastenerNews.com
