SHOW NEWS: How 822 Booths in Las Vegas Are More Than 829
After the 2007 National Industrial Fastener & Mill Supply Expo, show management announced that at 829 booths the show had set a record.
This week NIFMSE general manager Susan Hurley announced that at 822 the trade show “has broken it’s all-time exhibit space sales record.”
When questioned about the 829 and 822 discrepancy, Hurley explained the situation to GlobalFastenerNews.com: “We were still counting booths manually back then, and sometime after announcing the sale of 829 booths in 2007, our records revealed that the correct number was 821 because we had neglected to deduct cancelled spaces. The claim of 829 booths was an erroneous – albeit honest – human error.”
“Our exhibit space sales have since been counted and recorded using computer technology which takes everything into consideration,” Hurley added. “Booth sales figures reported since then are 100% correct and verifiable.”
The 2014 NIFMSE will be October 22-24 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas. Conferences and an opening reception are on Wednesday and the trade show is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.
• Last year there were 609 companies totaling 794 booths, compared with 596 companies with 770 booths in 2012.
• The first show in Las Vegas was held in 1997 and totaled 228 booths.
The 2014 record includes Machinery & Tooling booths which weren’t part of the 2007 show. The International Fastener Machinery & Suppliers Association made its trade show a section of NIFMSE beginning in 2011. This year 51 machinery companies have booked 75 booths – or 9.1% of the show square footage.
