SHOW NEWS: Ifastgroupe’s Bahadrian Featured Fastener Speaker at Wire Expo

Joseph Bahadrian will teach fastener fundamentals at Wire Expo 2006 as part of the “Fundamentals of Wire Manufacturing” series. Wire Expo will be May 20-24, 2006, in Boston.
Bahadrian has been general manager of Ifastgroupe, which includes Infasco and Galvano in Quebec and Infasco Nut and Ingersoll Fasteners in Ontario, since 1998. Bahadrian earned a bachelors degree in metallurgical engineering and masters in business administration from Canada”s McGill University.
He began his career in 1972 as a research metallurgist at Sidbec-Dosco (now Mittal), developing electric furnace strand cast steel for wire applications. In 1977 he joined the Sivaco division of Ivaco as chief metallurgist of their wire mills and in 1979 he became plant manager of Galvano, Ivaco”s fastener surface finishing division.
In 1989 he added chief metallurgist at Infasco and in 1993 became assistant general manager. Bahadrian is active in ASTM and SAE and represents Canada on ISO fastener technical committees.
There will be four general topic short courses on the fundamentals of wire manufacturing during the weekend.
Technical topics include “Nanotechnology,” “Wire Breaks,” “Wire & Cable Supply Chain,” “Wastewater Treatment” and “insulated Wire Manufacturing”; six ferrous sessions; and a scouting report on “Securing Future Engineering Talent.”
Wednesday technical themes include four topics under “Roller Die Drawing,” three topics under “Cleaning & Coating of Nonferrous Wire,” six ferrous sessions, four “Nonferrous/Electrical” sessions and general session with four speakers.
The trade show with an estimated 280 exhibiting companies will be Monday through Wednesday. In addition to fasteners, exhibitor products and services are oriented to the ferrous, nonferrous, electrical and fiber optics markets.
Wire Expo is organized by the Wire Association International Inc. Supporting sponsors include the American Wire Producers Association, the Society of Plastics Engineers and the Wire & Cable Industry Suppliers Association. WAI also has educational alliances with Australasian Wire Industry Association and the Mexico National Association of Wire Manufacturers.
