John Wolz
Frank Abagnale, the subject of Steven Spielbergs Catch Me If You Can movie, will be the keynote speaker at the Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association annual convention.
STAFDAs 27th annual convention will be November 2-4, 2003, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.\
Abagnales autobiography tells how he became a millionaire by age 21 using dubious means including impersonating a pediatric doctor, an attorney, a sociology professor, a stockbroker and an FBI agent.
Abagnale cashed $4 million in fraudulent checks and was the youngest person to make the FBIs 10 Most Wanted List. He was imprisoned in U.S., French and Swedish prisons before being released in 1974 and on parole until 1981. Abagnale, now 54, also made restitution.
Abagnale is now an authority on forgery, embezzlement and secure documents. More than 14,000 financial institutions have sent employees to his fraud prevention workshops. He will give STAFDA members advice on preventing a young Frank Abagnale from stealing a company blind.
In the recently released movie Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Abagnale, and Tom Hanks is the FBI agent assigned to catch him.
