SHOW NEWS: NFDA’s Roseman Giving Fastener Tech 07 Keynote Address

Joel Roseman of Arnold Industries Inc. will speak on the “State of the Fastener Industry” at the National Fastener Distributors Association keynote breakfast at Fastener Tech 07. \
Roseman is the incoming president of the NFDA.
Fastener Tech 07 will offer 13 educational sessions in addition to a fastener trade show during the June 25-27, 2007, events at Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.
Fastener Tech, sponsored by 10 fastener and trade associations and publications, also includes a two-day trade show, networking and social events for manufacturers, distributors and fastener users.
Monday: The full day fastener manufacturing seminar presented by Fastener Technology International includes: “Fastener Facts & Manu-facturing Fundamentals”, Jeff Hepner of Telefast Industries and the NFDA, and Steve Vass, retired fastener engineer; “Fundamentals of Cold Forming,” Kevin Hughes, Carpenter Technology Corporation; “Cold Forming Machinery,” Jerry Bupp, National Machinery LLC; “Thread Rolling,” Adam Kettles, Precision Tool Group; “Tooling & Process Simulation, John Walters, Scientific Forming Technologies Corp.; “Testing & Gaging,” Mike Nygaard, General Inspection; and “Fastener Coating Applications,” including chemical locking and sealing, assembly retention, lubrication and thread production, Nilo Urbani, Nylok. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A “Torque-Tension Training Seminar,” a Los Angeles Fastener Association training program, will be presented by Joe Greenslade, Industrial Fasteners Institute, and Carmen Vertullo, SimplyBetter. 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The “Lab Accreditation Seminar” is presented by the American Association for Lab Accreditation with instructor Fred Fetterolf of A2LA. Topics include common deficiencies seen by A2LA assessors. There will be a panel discussion with Q&A. 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Tuesday: Roseman”s NFDA keynote breakfast runs from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
Aztech Locknut will present a “Locknut Training Certification Seminar” taught by Vince Cartina of Aztech. 11 a.m. to noon
FastenerNews.com will present a luncheon and conference on “How to Export.” FIN”s program will include panelists discussing opening branches in Mexico and China; a Department of Commerce speaker on federal exporting programs and regulations; and a report on exporting to Europe by Fastener & Fixing Europe. 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
A “Lean Conference” will be presented by Fastener Technology International, with Joe Cappello speaking on “Getting Started on the Road to Lean,” and S Manivannan of Ford on “Lean: Mistake Proofing.” 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Wednesday : “Heat Treating & High-Strength Steel Fasteners” seminar by the ASM Heat Treating Society: “Fundamentals of Heat Treating Steel” and “Hydrogen Embrittlement of Fasteners,” Richard Sisson Jr., Worcester Polytechnic Institute; and “Important Issues in Heat Treating Steel Fasteners,” by Daniel Herring, Herring Group Inc. 9 a.m. to noon.
“Metal Finishing Seminar” by the Chicago Metal Finishers Institute: “Recent Global Regulatory Develop-ments for Coatings,” Christian Richter, The Policy Group; “Coatings Challenges for Defense, Aerospace & Commercial Fasteners,” Keith Legg, Rowan Technology; and “Emerging Trends in Coatings for Fasteners,” Craig Bishop, Atotech. 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
