SHOW NEWS: North Coast Pleased With Results Of 2009 Columbus Alternative
With the cancellation of the 2009 National Industrial Fastener Show/East, leaders of the North Coast Fastener Association saw an opportunity and created “A Night of Networking” with 33 suppliers hosting 230 people in Cleveland.
Approximately two thirds of attendees came from Cleveland-area distributorships to an evening reception on May 19 – the day NIFS/East had been scheduled in Columbus, OH.
Attendees were given folders with literature from each supplier sponsor and there was a table for sponsors to display additional literature, but the event was “more of a party to mingle with suppliers rather than a table top show.”
“We thought if we could sponsor an event that was free to all distributor personnel we could attract people whose companies choose not to send employees to some of our events,” co-chair Marty Nolan explained.
“We knew that industry people were anxious to meet with others from the industry given the challenging economy,” NCFA president George Hunt said.
“Meeting with suppliers and industry peers gives these people the chance to hear how others see the market right now. I think it was reassuring to a lot of people to hear that they are not alone during these tough times.”
Nolan said NCFA received requests from suppliers and distributors for similar event in the future. ©2009 GlobalFastenerNews.com
